City Clerk

 The Office of the City Clerk/Treasurer works directly with the Mayor, City Council and the public.  The City Clerk/Treasurer is responsible for the receipt, distribution and expenditure of all city funds and serves as the custodian of city records, which includes city ordinances, resolutions, minutes, contracts and agreements.

 The City Clerk/Treasurer collects business license fees and local gas tax.  The Alabama Department of Revenue is the sales and rental tax administrator for the City of Hartford.  You may reach them by phone at 334-242-1170 or locate them on line at http://revenue.alabama.gov/salestax.

A link to the business license application is available below.  Please print and complete the application and send in along with payment.  License applications will not be processed until payment is received.  Classifications and fees may be found under the ordinance link located below.  Please contact our office if you are unsure of the classification or fee for your business activity.

Some licenses require state certification. Click here for a list of proffessions requiring certification.
